In 2026 The Royal Scottish Academy celebrates its 200 Anniversary with RSA 200: Celebrating Together. The RSA will be highlighting the work of academicians across Scotland.
The link with the murals is that at least two of Sivell’s assistants became RSAs. They were Gordon Cameron and Alberto Morrocco – two Aberdeen born artists who also contributed significantly to the landmark textbook –
Anatomy of the Human Body by Lockhart, Hamilton & Fyfe.
Professor Lockhart’s ambition was to create a book which used drawings to educate rather than words. More than 900 original drawings were required. The excellent standard of draughtsmanship will be highlighted in a display, arranged by FOSMA, in the Suttie Centre on the Foresterhill Campus of the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.Look out for further information in March
